Letter to the Editor: Forum on Youth

Posted

You are invited to attend the Forum on Youth on Nov. 28, at 6 p.m., in person or by watching on Town Hall Streams at townhallstreams.com.

The purpose of this forum is to hear from you, the police department, child serving agencies and the youth of Cambridge about any of the following:

  • The proposed curfew ordinance
  • What our youth want or need in the way of programs or resources for them
  • What resources are already available for our children
  • Ideas of how we can engage parents more fully in supporting their child’s education and safety

I hope and expect that there will be a large crowd attending this forum; so if you have questions or issues that you would like to be addressed, please email me at mayor@choosecambridge.com so that I can pull the information and questions together to help with the conversation on the 28th and afterward.

As there may be a big crowd, you might want to consider staying home and watching it instead. As it may be a busy time, I am unsure if I will be able to handle calls from people but will try to make those arrangements. I will work with our IT staff to see what can be arranged and then send out information about that.

There is no right or wrong position to take on any of these issues. There are no wrong questions to ask.

I expect that we will not have enough time to hear from everyone on the 28th and will probably need additional meetings to gather more information and help keep you up to date on what is happening and how it is helping to address the concerns that we all have.
