On March 6, at approximately 10:24 p.m., Cambridge Police were dispatched to the rear parking lot behind the 300 block of High Street regarding an attempted robbery and assault. Upon arrival, officers met with the victim who advised that while walking to his vehicle, he was approached by a male subject who pointed what appeared to be a handgun and demanding the victim to get up against the vehicle and not to move.
The suspect attempted to remove a cellphone from the victims pants pocket. The victim and suspect then began to struggle at which time the victim was assaulted by getting hit in the face and head with the gun. The victim also told police that once he was on the ground, the suspect began stomping on the back of his head, a statement from the Cambridge Police Department said.
The victim described the subject as an African-American male (unknown age) wearing all dark clothing and a ski mask. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful. At the scene, officers were able to locate parts from a BB Gun in the same area that may have been used by the suspect.
The victim was treated and later released at the local hospital. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department at 410-228-3333.

Handgun, assault charges
On Feb. 18, officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to the 400 block of Muir Street in reference to an assault. Officers met with a female victim, who said the suspect, a 31-year-old Cambridge man, had assaulted her by grabbing her by the hair and pushing her down a flight of stairs.
Further investigation and surveillance footage showed the assault, in addition to the suspect walking out of the apartment complex and removing a handgun from his person and shooting at the victim’s vehicle. Detectives located the suspect, and in the early morning hours of March 8, the Cambridge Police Emergency Response Team along with Ddtectives, executed a search-and-seizure warrant in the 1200 block of Chestnut Place. Keith Brown was taken into custody and Detectives located a .25 caliber handgun with a loaded magazine. The serial number on the handgun had been filed down and was unreadable.
Brown has been charged with several handgun charges, assault, and reckless endangerment. Brown was processed and is currently being held in the Dorchester County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.

Sex abuse of adult
The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has arrested a Cordova man after conducting an investigation into an attempted rape, assault, and sexual abuse of a vulnerable adult that occurred in Trappe on Feb. 25.
William Earl Keyser, 65 has been charged with attempted second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and sexual abuse a vulnerable adult.
The investigation revealed William Keyser came to the residence on Feb. 25. A witness told police she had left the residence at some point and Keyser was alone with the vulnerable adult.
The witness advised when she returned home she interrupted Keyser attempting to have a sexual encounter with the vulnerable adult. At that time, the witness called 911 and prompted a response by Talbot County Sheriff Office. Detectives arrested Keyser who was still on scene when they arrived.
William Keyser was subsequently transported to the Talbot County Central Detention Center where he had an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. He was held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center pending a bail review in the Talbot County District Court.

Sex abuse of juvenile
The Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division has arrested a St. Michaels man in connection with the sexual abuse of a juvenile.
Jimmie Patterson Jr., 69, has been charged with Second Degree Rape, Third Degree Sex Offense, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, and related charges.
On March 1, the juvenile’s mother responded to the St. Michael’s Police Department to report that her daughter had been sexually assaulted. After learning the incident occurred in the county, detectives with the Talbot County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded to assume the investigation. Detectives developed information from interviews indicating Jimmie Patterson had sexually assaulted the juvenile.
Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jimmie Patterson, Jr. charging him with the above offenses. On March 3, Patterson was arrested by St. Michaels Police Department in the area of Willow Street and Talbot Street in St. Michaels.
He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently transported to the Talbot County Detention Center where he had an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Patterson was ordered held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center pending a bail review in the District Court.

Attempted murder
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Westover man on Feb. 18 for attempted murder and numerous other charges following a reported violent altercation between two men that occurred on Feb. 17 in the Wallace Taylor Road area of Pocomoke.
On Jan. 17 at 1:30 p.m.,dDeputies were called to a business on Hudson Corner Road in Marion to contact the reported victim of an assault, Michael Trakney Sr., of Byrd Road, Pocomoke. Upon arrival, Deputy First Class Lee Love began an investigation into the incident.
The victim told Deputy Love of a violent incident that occurred earlier that day, at approximately 11:15 a.m. The victim identified his assailant as Scott Muir, of Mennonite Church Road, Westover.
The victim, initially a pedestrian, said Scott Muir arrived at the scene driving a black Honda passenger vehicle. Muir, upset over prior communications between the victim and Muir’s girlfriend, accelerated his vehicle and struck the victim with the front of his Honda before leaving the general area, a report from the sheriff’s office said.
The victim reportedly entered his vehicle and also left the area to go home. The victim was reportedly traveling southbound on Hayward Road when he again observed Scott Muir driving the black Honda approaching him northbound.
The victim saw Muir make a U-turn in front of him and point a handgun at the victim through the driver’s window of the Honda. The victim said he then watched as Muir fired several shots at the victim with one shot striking the victim’s vehicle.
SCSO Criminal Investigator, Detective Justin Fontaine, joined the investigation. After further investigation and witness interviews, a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, magazines, and ammunition was recovered from the residence of a relative of Scott Muir and believed to be the gun used in the incident. Deputies located Scott Muir a short time later at a Salisbury motel, where he was arrested.
Muir was formally charged with criminal charges including two counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts each of assault first and second degree, handgun in a vehicle, transportation of handgun in a vehicle, illegal possession of a handgun by a prohibited person, illegal possession of ammunition by a prohibited person, and loaded handgun on person. Muir was later held without bond.

Beware of scam
The Hurlock Police Department has received information in regards to an active scam that is currently circulating. The scam involves victims receiving a phone call advising them they have won money.
This call is followed by a second call from a person claiming to be an FBI agent, who informs the victim that their Social Security number has been compromised. The “agent” then directs the victim to purchase store gifts cards and has the victim scratch off the validation code and provide it to the “agent”.
“This is a scam, please do not comply with suspicious phone calls,” a statement from the Hurlock PD said. “Please report any scam phone calls to your local law enforcement.”

Shots fired in Hurlock
The Hurlock Police Department is currently investigating two incidents where shots have been fired at residences. These incidents occurred at Harrison Ferry Apartments and Jackson Street between 8 p.m. March 1 and 1:30 a.m., March 2.
A statement from the Hurlock PD said, “We are requesting anyone with information about either incident to contact us at 410-943-4020.”

Police seek witnesses to fatal collision
On Mar. 4 at approximately 10:43 p.m., an adult female was struck and killed by a motor vehicle near the intersection of W. Ruark Drive on Rt. 13 (Ocean Hwy) in Salisbury. Salisbury City Police, as well as Sheriff’s Deputies were handling another crash a short distance away and therefore officers arrived on the scene within just a few minutes, a statement from the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office said.
Due to the nature of injuries to the pedestrian, the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) was requested to assist with the investigation. CRU Deputies determined that a 2010 Chevy Traverse, driven by Heather Miller, of Princess Anne, struck the pedestrian who was crossing the highway on the south bound side of Rt. 13.
It is unclear why the pedestrian entered the roadway while vehicles were passing. A witness who was traveling behind the Traverse told police that the pedestrian entered the road directly in front of on-coming traffic. The pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene.
Preliminarily, there is no suspicion of impairment of the driver, and speed does not appear to have contributed to the death of the victim. Miller also remained on the scene and fully cooperated with officers.
The victim was identified as Alexandra Elizabeth Wolff, 30, of Salisbury. Her mother, Antonia Wolff was notified by Cambridge Police of her daughter’s death. Alexandra’s body was transported to Tidal Health Hospital by EMS, and will be transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.
The southbound lanes were closed for approximately three hours while investigators gathered information from the scene.
