  • The Class of 2026 is invited to attend “Best of the Nest 101” on Aug. 17, 5:30-7 p.m. in the North Dorchester High School Auditorium. Meet ND staff and learn more about The Nest.
  • Good news for DCPS families: Because Dorchester County Public Schools is a Community Eligibility Provision district, all school meals will continue to be provided free of charge to our students when they are in school during the 2022-2023 school year.
  • NDHS Laptop Distribution: Dual-enrollment students may pick up laptops Aug. 15-19 at NDMS, 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. You must have a parent or guardian with you to sign for the laptop.

All other students may pick up laptops Tuesday, Aug. 23, at NDHS at the following times – a parent or guardian must be present to sign for the laptop. Once students get their device, they will be directed to another area to login and change their password before leaving the school.

9th grade – 8-9:30 a.m.

10th grade – 9:30-11 a.m.

11th grade – 12-1:30 p.m.

12th grade – 1:30-3 p.m.

  • Calling the Classes of 2035 and 2036! We are still registering pre-kindergartners who will be turning 4 by Sept. 1 and kindergartners turning 5 by Sept. 1. We look forward to welcoming your child! For more information and to register your child, go to com/3rakvsee.
  • Announcing the newest addition to the school supplies list for the 2022-23 school year: A Dorchester County Public Schools clear backpack is available free of charge to all students who would like one and will be distributed by each school. Each backpack comes with a refillable water bottle that can be used with the water-fillers at school, for increased hygiene and safety. While not required, these free clear backpacks are strongly encouraged for reasons of school security and convenience and mean one less back-to-school expense for parents.
  • It will be here before you know it! Here is a reminder of the dates of the first day of school:

Monday, Aug. 29: Grades 1 through 5, Grade 6, Grade 9, and South Dorchester School Grades 7 and 8

Tuesday, Aug. 30: Mace's Lane and North Dorchester Middle School Grades 7 and 8 and all Grades 10 through 12

Wednesday, Aug. 31: Pre-K and Kindergarten

  • All Dorchester County Public Schools will have an Open House for students and parents on Thursday, Aug. 25, from 4 to 6 p.m. Here’s an opportunity to meet the teachers and administrators and see what lies ahead for the 2022-23 school year!
  • Introducing the new C-SDHS Athletics website: google.com/view/csdhsathletics/home

This new site will be updated frequently with important announcements, upcoming events and more relevant information. On the homepage, you will find required documents for student-athlete participation, required coaching forms, and other important resources and information.

Wor-Wic’s spring dean’s list

A total of 386 Wor-Wic Community College students have been recognized for superior performance by being named to the dean’s list for the recently completed spring term.

Students who maintained a grade point average of 3.5 or higher while taking six or more credit hours during the spring term include:

Board of Education meeting:

Thursday, Aug. 18

The Board of Education of Dorchester County will conduct an open session on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 5 p.m. After the start of the open session, the board will meet in closed session in accordance with Section 3-305 of the General Provisions of the Annotated Code of Maryland.

At the conclusion of the closed session, the board will reconvene at 6 p.m. in open session.

The agenda and related documents can be accessed online via BoardDocs on the Dorchester County Public Schools website at dcps.k12.md.us.

Anyone who would like to submit public comments electronically, to be included in the minutes, can email comments@dcpsmd.org by 2 p.m. Aug. 18. All Board of Education meetings will be livestreamed: townhallstreams.com/towns/dorchesterboe.
