CAMBRIDGE — Coach Wylie Gray Sr. was recognized by the State of Maryland recently for his service as a sports coach with Dorchester County Recreation and Parks. He was awarded a certificate for the William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for 2014, presented by Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot. This award is given to individuals and organizations in each Maryland county best exemplifying William Donald Schaefer’s lifelong commitment to helping people.

Coach Gray received the award in a small ceremony at the Dorchester County Recreation and Parks facility on Willis Avenue in Cambridge on Friday, August 15. On hand for the award were Franchot, Mayor Victoria Jackson-Stanley, Councilman Robbie Hanson, Sheriff James Phillips and members of Coach Gray’s family and staff.

Wylie Gray, is a longtime and well-loved youth sports coach and administrator. He has been involved with Cambridge Little League for 22 years and Pop Warner football since its inception 18 years ago. In his retirement, Coach Gray also works at the Dorchester County public pool.
