Cambridge Woman’s Club to hold Annual Gala Bazaar

Posted

The Cambridge Woman’s Club will host its Gala Bazaar on Friday, Oct. 7, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and Saturday, Oct. 8, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. The bazaar will be held at Sycamore Cottage, located at 417 High Street in Cambridge. Admission is free.

While visiting the bazaar, be sure to visit the clubhouse where a variety of silent auction items will be available for bidding. Included in this auction will be china, crystal, sports equipment, furniture, holiday items and more. There will be many quality items along with some antiques.

In addition, a special raffle item will be available at the bazaar.  It is a beautiful sterling silver workboat charm and chain donated to the CWC by Thomas’ Jewelers and club treasurer Barbara Lawrence. The tickets for this item are $5. They will be available the day of the bazaar or can be purchased earlier by contacting Cindy at 443-521-0324 or Kay at 410-967-5632.  The drawing will be sometime during the last hour of the bazaar and you do not have to be present to win.

On the clubhouse grounds, there will be many vendors offer ing hand-crafted items for sale as well as local community organizations offering information and samples of their services.

There will also be a bake sale offer ing the very best homemade bakery items from club members.  Cold drinks will be for sale also.

The Wednesday Morning Artists will be displaying their creations in the front parlor of Sycamore Cottage. This exhibit will also be a part of Cambridge’s Art Walk in downtown Cambridge.

Follow the signs to Sycamore Cottage from Race and High streets. It was built in 1759 among a grove of sycamore trees elsewhere on High Street. In 1840, it was moved to 417 High St. and was purchased by the Cambridge Woman’s Club in 1922. It is the club’s meeting place and was entered on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988.

Funds generated from the bazaar will support the maintenance of historic Sycamore Cottage as well as community outreach programs in local schools, the Waugh Chapel Food Pantry, and the Dorchester County Free Library.

To donate, contact Cindy at 443-521-0324 or Kay at 410-967-5632.

Parking is available off-street and next to Waugh Chapel United Methodist Church on the day of the event.
