CAMBRIDGE — On May 9, the city was hit by two violent incidents. In one, a woman was shot, while in the other, a man was stabbed.
A report from the Cambridge Police Department said that at approximately 7 p.m., officers responded to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Dorchester about a female subject at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the left buttock.
The victim, who is 20 years of age, said that the shooting was accidental. She told officers that while driving, her boyfriend had pulled out the handgun to clear it when it went off and she realized she was shot.
The boyfriend then dropped the female subject off at the emergency room and left the area. The victim is currently in stable condition at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma.
This investigation is continuing, and charges will be forthcoming.
At approximately 3:10 a.m. on Sunday, officers responded to the 400 block of Skinners Court in reference to a subject with a stab wound. Upon officers’ arrival, they noticed a subject sitting on a porch with a blood stain on his shirt.
The victim had a single stab wound to his left side. The report from Cambridge police said the man told officers that he was highly intoxicated, fighting people and did not know who stabbed him.
Officers were unable to locate any witnesses. The victim was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition. Anyone with information into this incident is asked to contact the Cambridge Police Department, at 410-228-3333. Tips can be left anonymously.
