CAMBRIDGE—The Rotary Club here held its annual Oyster Roast this past Saturday, and in spite of the cold, windy weather, it was a huge success. Seeing the difficulty the weather would cause at the original outdoor Long Wharf location, Project officer Jeff Hubbard obtained the use of Sailwinds Governors Hall, and approximately 500 people came and enjoyed the fun, food, and fellowship. Proceeds from the event benefit the Rotary program to improve Long Wharf and the World War I Memorial Fountain. There were oysters roasted, scalded and on the half-shell, with shuckers provided by Kool-Ice. There were also hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages provided by Center Market, and beer provided by Kelly Distributors. Governors Hall turned out to be an excellent venue for the event, and the Rotary has reserved the Hall for next year’s Oyster Roast.
