Big Brothers Big Sisters holds record-breaking fundraising event

CAMBRIDGE – Twenty-five teams played the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Eastern Shore’s 13th Annual Eastern Shore Golf Classic on Aug. 15, the largest number of teams ever to play at this event.

The tournament took place at the River Marsh Golf Club at the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Golf Resort, Spa & Marina. Major sponsors included Presenting Sponsor – Delmarva Power, Hole-in-One Sponsor – Pohanka of Salisbury, and Putting Sponsors – Queenstown Bank, Pool Tech Inc. and the Bank of Delmarva. Co-chairs for the event were John Petito of Delmarva Power and Jimmy Sweet of the Delmarva Shorebirds.

The teams gathered to raise money for programs for children facing adversity. Immediately following the tournament, awards were presented for first, second and third place gross; first, second and third place net; and closest to the pin.

First Place Gross – Preston Motors Team – Mark Thursby, Shane McKinney, Drew Linder and Mike Liapis

Second Place Gross – Salisbury Moose Team #2 – Clyde Mariner, King Stade, Chris Brewington and Dave Hall

Third Place Gross – PNC Team – Bob Core, Chris Murphy, Craig Wanner and Wesley Cox

First Place Net – American Legion #1 – Tom Wengert, Jim Wolfe, Gil Borrandale and Ben Dawson

Second Place Net – Mid-Atlantic Organic Resource Company – Marquis Roberts, Rog Etgen, Dave Tribbit and Tyler Longfellow

Third Place Net – Robinson Team – Tom Robinson, Eric Wilson, Tracey Brown and Mike Casson
