CAMBRIDGE - On Nov. 7 at approximately 12:52 p.m., police were on routine patrol in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue when they heard gunshots in the area, a statement from the Cambridge Police Department said. Patrol officers then proceeded to the 500 block and noticed a male subject with a gun shooting and then running from the scene.
Officers gave chase of the subject on foot and was able to apprehend him in the 400 block of Oakley Street. Officers then located a male victim in the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue lying on the ground with multiple gunshots wounds.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene at which time the male victim was later flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore. Cambridge Police was later advised that the victim had succumbed to his injuries. The victim is identified as Jihad Y. Brown, 18 of Cambridge.
There was a second victim who was shot in the arm who arrived at the emergency room shortly after the shooting. He was later treated and released.
Jai’Choaun D. Woolford, 25 of Easton was arrested and charged with 1st and 2nd degree murder along with other related charges. He is currently being held in the Dorchester County Detention Center on no bond.
