Posted

DOVER - Christopher Houck, 25, of Dover, and Ontia Lofland, 25, of Laurel, were arrested on several charges following a pursuit in a stolen vehicle Monday night, authorities.

Dover Police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said the investigation began at 9:32 p.m. when officers observed a White Ford Transit van in the area of South State Street and East Water Street. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen, police said.

Officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle at which time it fled and a pursuit began throughout the city. The pursuit ultimately ended on Savannah Road in Dover when the vehicle got stuck in a field.

Police said Mr. Houck and Ms. Lofland were taken into custody without incident. Mr. Houck was linked to stealing a City of Dover vehicle over the weekend, police said.

Both persons were transported to the Dover Police Department where they were processed and arraigned.

Mr. Houck was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, third-degree criminal trespass, receiving stolen property, failure to stop on police command, and numerous traffic offenses. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $4,350 cash bail.

Ms. Lofland was charged with receiving stolen property and released on her own recognizance.
