DOVER — Two New Jersey males were arrested following a vehicle pursuit Friday, Dover police spokesman Master Cpl. Ryan Schmid said.
Authorities said the investigation began when officers were notified by the Edgewater (New Jersey) Police Department that a stolen vehicle was actively being tracked near Royal Farms in Dover.
Cpl. Schmid said officers responded to the area and located the vehicle, a 2023 Hyundai Elantra with a New York registration, and attempted to stop it. The car failed to stop, and the officers began a pursuit, which ended in the 300 block of Northdown Drive, he said.
Three occupants fled from the Elantra on foot, Cpl. Schmid added.
After a K-9 track, Nasir Ray, 20, of Edgewater Park, New Jersey, and a 17-year-old Edgewater male were taken into custody. The driver was not located, and his identity is unknown.
Mr. Ray and the teen were arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and charged with resisting arrest and hindering prosecution. Both were issued $2,000 secured bail.
