Two arrested during search warrant execution

DOVER - Carl DeShields, 40, and Dyshaneeta McDougald, 35, were arrested during a search Thursday afternoon in the 100 Block of Spruance Road, authorities said.

At approximately 12:53 p.m., Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said, officers executed a search warrant at a residence following a firearms and drug investigation. Mr. DeShields and Ms. McDougald were taken into custody without incident.

During a search of the home, police said, officers located a rifle, handgun, 5 grams of marijuana and nearly $3,000 in stolen tools/power equipment.

Mr. DeShields was charged with possession of firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (six counts), endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $84,300 cash bond.

Ms. McDougald was charged with receiving stolen property over $3,000, possession of firearm by person prohibited (two counts), endangering the welfare of a child (two counts), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on an own recognizance bond.
