Speak Up: Georgetown council members found in FOIA violation

Posted

Actions taken by three Georgetown Town Council members to sign a check that was delivered to the Georgetown Historical Society violated Delaware’s Freedom of Information Act, the state Attorney General’s Office has ruled.

“We find that a quorum of the Town Council violated the open meeting requirements by privately discussing and taking action on the Georgetown Historical Society’s grant check without complying with the open meeting requirements,” states the ruling, signed by deputy attorney general Dorey L. Cole.
