Alissa Haith netted 23 points to pace Caesar Rodney High to a 54-46 victory over Sussex Tech in Henlopen Conference Northern Division girls’ basketball on Tuesday night.

The Riders (3-1 North, 6-3 overall) built a 42-32 lead after three quarters. Brionna Brooks added 11 points for CR.

Kara Hignutt had a team-high 16 points for the Ravens.

Milford 40, Indian River 30: The Buccaneers (7-1 overall) improved to 4-0 in the Henlopen South with the win.

Jameshia Baker and Jonae Boone netted 10 points apiece for Milford, which built a 30-20 lead after three quarters.

Fabrea McCray had a game-high 12 points to pace the Indians.

St. Thomas More 50, Red Lion 21: Freshman Aniah Patterson netted 16 points and Amaja’ Mack added 15 as the Ravens (5-1) won their fourth game in a row.

St. Thomas More opened up a 26-8 lead going into the second half.

Delmar 63, Laurel 61: The Wildcats overcame a five-point deficit going into the fourth quarter to pull out the Henlopen South victory.

Carly Covington had 23 points for Delmar, Brielle Johnson had 16 with Kammielle Spates adding 11.

Freshman Logan Handy netted a game-high 25 points for the Bulldogs while Rebecca Crites had 14, including four three-pointers.

Boys’ basketball

Caesar Rodney 64, Sussex Tech 49: The Riders (1-5) outscored the Ravens, 20-7, in the second quarter to take control and earn their first win of the season.

CR lost to the Ravens twice a year ago by a total of only seven points.

Smyrna 67, Polytech 33: Ja’Vier Worthy (17 points), Charlie Taylor (14) and Caleb Matthews (13) all scored in double figures as the Eagles (3-0 North, 5-0) remained unbeaten.

Worthy hit three of Smyrna’s six three-pointers. The Eagles led 63-26 going into the fourth quarter.

Chase Chappel scored 14 points for the Panthers.

Milford 63, Indian River 42: Henry Neismith netted 19 points in the Buccaneers’ Henlopen South win.

Milford, which also got 14 points from Brion Murray, outscored IR, 21-8, in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

The Indians’ Isaiah Bratton finished with 18 points, including three of IR’s seven three-pointers.

Delmar 65, Laurel 63: The Wildcats edged the Bulldogs for their second straight win.

With the win, Delmar improved to 2-3 in the Henlopen South, 4-5 overall.

Red Lion 54, St. Thomas More 52: Jaret Bush sank three free throws with just 1.9 seconds left to complete the Lions’ comeback.

The Ravens led 39-24 going into the fourth quarter before being outscored 30-13 in the final eight minutes. Bush had 24 points, including five three-pointers.

Aaron Scott tallied 21 points for St. Thomas More.

College soccer

Two UD players honored: A pair of Delaware women’s soccer players have been recognized by Top Drawer Soccer.com as two of the top players in the Colonial Athletic Association.

Top Drawer Soccer recently published its annual rankings of the top 20 players in each of the 31 NCAA Division I conferences in the country.

For Delaware, junior forward Natalie Zelenky was ranked No. 15 and senior defender Maddy Parker was picked No. 17 among all CAA players. The Blue Hens were one of six CAA schools with multiple players listed in the rankings with William & Mary and UNCW leading the way with four selections each.

Zelenky was ranked No. 5 among forwards while Parker was selected fourth among defenders.
