Police: Millsboro man arrested after driving stolen car
By FRANKFORD — Sheldon Harrison, 19, of Millsboro, was arrested Sunday after he was found driving a stolen car, Delaware State Police spokesman Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.
According to authorities, at approximately 9:56 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a blue 2017 Hyundai Elantra traveling southbound on Pyle Center Road south of Shockley Town Road. A computer check of the car’s registration showed that the vehicle had been reported as stolen the by Salisbury Police Department Thursday.
The trooper attempted to stop the car as it turned into a residential driveway on Daisey Road, but the driver accelerated forward towards the backyard. The driver and his two passengers then exited the car and attempted to run away, but all three were taken into custody by responding troopers assisted by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit, police said.
The Elantra struck and damaged the homeowner’s septic tank before it came to a stop in the yard, police said.
Mr. Harrison was charged with receiving stolen property over $1,500, resisting arrest, criminal mischief, third-degree criminal trespass, and numerous traffic violations. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released on $3,802 unsecured bond.
The two passengers, both 16-year-old males from Millsboro, were each charged with resisting arrest. Both teens were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and released to their parents.
