Police: Juvenile arrested after vehicle thefts in Felton

FELTON — A 16-year-old male was arrested in connection with two stolen vehicles, along with thefts from vehicles, Felton Police Chief Christopher Guild said.

Authorities said the case began at 5:27 a.m. Jan. 10, when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Cattle Drive for a theft report. Then, at 5:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of West Railroad Avenue for a reported stolen vehicle. Over the next few days, numerous other victims reported thefts from vehicles, along with another stolen vehicle from the 100 block of Jefferson Street.

Throughout the three-week investigation, two 16-year-old juveniles were identified as suspects, Chief Guild said. One suspect was taken into custody Thursday, and the other has active warrants on file.

The teen arrested was charged with possession of a deadly weapon, firearm or ammunition by a person under 21; theft under $1,500 where the victim was 62 or older; motor vehicle theft (two counts); second-degree conspiracy (two counts); theft under $1,500 (six counts); and third-degree criminal trespass (10 counts).

He was arraigned by Kent County Family Court and released to a guardian on $5,700 unsecured bond, pending a court date.
