DOVER — Delaware State Police identified Debra Leonard, 67, of Dover, as the person found shot to death inside a home on Friday night.

The homicide brought the arrest of Ms. Leonard’s son, Kyle Leonard, 37, of Dover, DSP spokeswoman Master Cpl. Heather Pepper said. Police said Mr. Leonard called 911 and reported that he had shot and killed his mother inside the home in the 200 block of Harriet Street. He was taken into custody without incident after troopers were called to the scene at approximately 7:19 p.m.

Mr. Leonard was transported to DSP Troop 3 where he was charged with first-degree murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $200,000 cash bond.
