One dead in Bridgeville-area vehicle collision

BRIDGEVILLE - Richard Kalinevitch, 83, of Greenwood,  died in a two-vehicle collision Monday, Delaware State Police spokesperson Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Police said the man was driving a vehicle on Wesley Church Road that failed to stop at the intersection with Cannon Road and was struck by another vehicle at approximately 1:22 p.m. Police said there was a posted stop sign and flashing red light on Wesley Church Road at the intersection.

Mr. Kalinevitch, who police said was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 26-year-old Bridgeville man, was wearing a seatbelt. Police said he was transported by ambulance to an area hospital, where he was treated for injuries and released.

The intersection was closed for approximately three hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this collision to please contact Senior Cpl. R.
