MILFORD — A garden tended by Milford residents Kenny and Holly Brown has been named the September garden of the month by the Milford Garden Club, the organization announced on Wednesday.

The Browns’ garden, or gardens, rather, — there are two, as well as plantings all around the foundation of the Browns’ home is located in the front yard of their home at 18 Hidden Meadows. Their creation stood out to the green-thumbed members of the club’s Beautification Committee for its lovely display of summer flowers, including yellow lantana, pink pentas and knockout roses.

Mr. Brown is indeed the former police chief, the club notes. After retiring, he joined his wife’s family business — the Hannigan Short Funeral Home in Laurel. The couple told the garden club that they plan to make their garden fall-ready with mums, pansies pumpkins and more.
