Kayakers find man's body in Dover river

DOVER — The body of a man was found Saturday by a group of kayakers in the St. Jones River, behind Capitol Green.

Dover police were called to the area at 4 p.m. for a report of a body on the shoreline, authorities said.

With assistance from the Dover Fire Department, the remains were removed from the water. The subject was a male, but additional details are unknown due to the advanced state of decomposition, police said.

No obvious signs of trauma were noticed; however, the cause of death is unknown. The manner of death and identification of the subject is pending further examination by the medical examiner, police said.
