LEWES — InFocus Financial Advisors, Inc. will host Planning for Required Minimum Distributions and Understanding Annuities workshops in February at the Lewes Public Library.

Planning for Required Minimum Distributions will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9 and Understanding Annuities will be held from 5-6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16.

Sponsored by the Delaware Money School, Certified Financial Planner Robert Jeter, CFP, CRPC, will instruct the workshop series.

These workshops will cover planning items specific to those approaching retirement, recently retired, or already retired.

Planning for Required Minimum Distributions will examine the steps individuals need to take to properly plan for their Required Minimum Distributions and avoid the many pitfalls’ retirees face when they must take their assets out of their retirement accounts.

Topics covered include tax withholding, Medicare premiums, distribution planning, minimizing lifetime tax liability, and other pertinent planning items to help attendees determine how to pursue appropriate long-term tax planning.

The workshop on Understanding Annuities will focus on breaking down the challenges of annuities to help attendees gain an understanding of what annuities are, how they work, and when annuities are a suitable choice for an investor.

The workshop will also focus on when annuities are not suitable for investors and how they can negatively impact retirement success.
