DOVER — Jed Bell is getting back into the world of high school athletics.

This time, though, the former Woodbridge High football coach will be involved in sports as an administrator.

Donna Polk, the executive director for the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association, announced on Tuesday that Bell is joining the DIAA office.

The Milford High grad replaces Stephanie Mark, who had worked under Polk for the last few years.

Bell was the assistant principal at Seaford Middle School last year. He worked at Woodbridge for the previous decade, helping the Blue Raiders win DIAA Division II football state titles as defensive coordinator in 2016 and ‘18.

In his two seasons as Woodbridge’s head coach, Bell’s team went 16-3 and reached the state finals in 2019.

Bell will have a number of responsibilities within the DIAA, including overseeing compliance, sportsmanship, rules clinics, officials registration and testing and tournament brackets. He will be the sport contact for cross country, track, boys and girls soccer, boys lacrosse, swimming, tennis, baseball, and assist with football.

At Woodbridge, Bell worked in special education as well as was a dean of students. Along with football, he also coached girls’ basketball and football.

When he was coaching, Bell served as the Henlopen South representative on the Delaware Interscholastic Football Coaches Association. He became a member of the DIAA Football Committee prior to the 2020 season, and most recently oversaw the 1A classification.

Both a football and baseball player at Milford, Bell is a 2011 graduate of Methodist University. He also has a Master’s Degree in School Leadership from Wilmington University.
