NEW YORK — Delaware State University president Dr. Tony Allen joined a number of other historically Black college and university presidents and representatives for a meeting at the New York Stock Exchange this month.

They also participated in the bell ceremony to close the financial markets Friday.

The HBCU officials gathered at NYSE for a meeting of the Professional Pipeline Development Program, hosted by Hewlett Packard and Diageo, a multinational alcoholic-beverage company.

During the meeting, Dr. Allen gave a presentation on the university and on the White House Initiative on Advancing Educational Equity, Excellence and Economic Opportunity through Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ board of advisers, for which he has been appointed chair by President Joe Biden.

Other schools represented at the NYSE meeting were Cheney University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Southern University and Agricultural & Mechanical College and Tougaloo College.
