Drug investigation brings three arrests in Millsboro

MILLSBORO — Three people were arrested Monday after a monthslong drug investigation, Delaware State Police Senior Cpl. Leonard DeMalto said.

Troopers executed a search warrant at a residence in the 25000 block of Oak Street on Monday night. When they entered the home, they were able to take Christina Blades, 45, of Millsboro, into custody without incident, police said.

Tomaris White, 43, of Dover, was taken into custody after he attempted to destroy narcotics, Cpl. DeMalto said. Stephen Tankard, 58, of Millsboro, tried to flee from the home, but he was taken into custody a short time later, after he resisted arrest and attempted to hide outside, police said.

Mr. Tankard was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.

A search of the home led to the discovery of about 3.93 grams of suspected heroin in packages, 3.67 grams of suspected raw heroin, 6.84 grams of cocaine and 21.46 grams of crack cocaine; over $4,300 in suspected drug-dealing proceeds; and numerous items of drug paraphernalia, police said.

Mr. White was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance in Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 quantities, and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with operating a clandestine drug laboratory, tampering with physical evidence and second-degree conspiracy. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution, Georgetown, on $116,200 cash bond.

Mr. Tankard was charged with operating a clandestine drug laboratory, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, maintaining a drug property, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, second-degree conspiracy, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.

Ms. Blades was charged with operating a clandestine laboratory, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance (three counts), maintaining a drug property, possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 1 quantity, second-degree conspiracy and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on her own recognizance.
