Dover roadway closed after trash truck empties contents

DOVER — A section of Forest Avenue was closed Tuesday morning after a trash truck “mistakenly dumped its load” of trash, according to Dover police.

Both directions of the roadway, between Gibbs and Bertrand Drive, were closed for about two hours during the cleanup effort led by Delaware Department of Transportation crews.

Sgt. Mark Hoffman, a spokesman for the Dover Police Department, said witnesses stated the trash was dumped by a blue sanitation truck. The witnesses could not identify the company belonging to the truck.

The truck allegedly did not stop after the trash was dumped.

A city employee called in the issue, Sgt. Hoffman said, and officers assisted with traffic direction during the cleanup.
