DOVER — A 19-year-old Wilmington man was arrested Monday afternoon after being seen with a firearm in his waistband, Dover police spokesman Sgt. Mark Hoffman said.

Jaden Jenkins fled from officers as they approached but was apprehended without incident shortly afterward, authorities said. Police said officers recovered the handgun after Mr. Jenkins dropped it during the foot pursuit.

The incident occurred at approximately 2:55 p.m. in the unit block of South New Street, according to police.

Mr. Jenkins was charged with possession of a firearm/ammunition by person prohibited (two counts), carrying a concealed deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $11,000 cash bond.
