Delaware expecting migrants to arrive at Georgetown airport

Posted

GEORGETOWN—A flight carrying several migrants is expected to arrive at Delaware Coastal Airport from Texas at approximately 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The plane being used in the flight, Ultimate Air Shuttle UE 11, is the same plane that was used by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Sept. 14, when he sent two planes carrying undocumented migrants to Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.

The flight was expected to take off from Kelly Field Airport in San Antonio, Texas at 9 a.m. eastern before arriving at Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview, Fla. From there, the flight is expected to take off and arrive at Delaware Coastal Airport by 1:32 p.m.

The impending arrival of migrants in the First State comes in the midst of ongoing conflict between Republican Gov. Greg Abbott of Texas, Gov. DeSantis and Democratic leaders over border security. In recent weeks, migrants have been transported to cities including Washington D.C., Chicago, and New York City.
