Arrest made in Seaford kidnapping case

SEAFORD — A 38-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection with an investigation into a kidnapping on Jan. 1, according to Seaford police spokesman Deputy Chief Michael Rapa.

Darnell Stokes was taken into custody without incident, police said. He was also wanted for two other separate incidents involving unlawful imprisonment and burglary.

Mr. Stokes was charged with first-degree kidnapping, first-degree robbery, aggravated menacing, first- and second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree assault (two counts), second-degree burglary, malicious interference with emergency communications, theft under $1,500 (two counts), offensive touching (two counts), and disorderly conduct.

He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $74,000 cash bond for the kidnapping incident, police said, and a $22,000 secured bond for an unlawful imprisonment incident and a burglary incident.
