Letter to the Editor: Juneteenth concert in Lewes praised

Posted

Editor’s note: The following was sent to Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice members, sponsors, organizers and volunteers.

Thank you for a wonderful, remarkable, enjoyable and memorable evening Saturday, June 18. Thank you for hosting and organizing The Chantels in concert at Cape Henlopen High School.

It was a concert we all enjoyed. Thank you for “educating, informing, and advocating for racial justice, equality, and fair opportunity,” especially during the historical Juneteenth Celebration Freedom Day. I was so impressed with the diversity makeup in the audience, to include age, gender, religion, race, socioeconomic status, political affiliations, demographics, employment and others.

Kudos, SDARJ, for reaching out to all of us during such a time as this. “Let us not be weary in well doing.” Saturday was a true testament of the important work SDARJ does and continues to do. I am so blessed by your tireless work.
