Explosion investigated near Trap Pond Rd.


LAUREL — Investigators are blaming aerosol spray cans discarded into a burning barrel for an explosion that left an unidentified Sussex County man, 27, with burns on his head and back, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal.

The Laurel Fire department responded to the 911 call from the property shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 7 to find the individual and the burning barrel nearby, according to a press release.

The person was flown to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment, and his status is not being released by authorities.
