Delaware General Assembly prepares for final week of 2024 session

DOVER — The final days of the 2024 legislative session are here.

The 152nd General Assembly will conclude its business this week, as the House of Representatives and Senate are scheduled to meet Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday before the last day of session Sunday.

This week, lawmakers will work to pass the bond bill, which includes funding for capital projects like school renovations and construction and roadways.

The General Assembly will also work to pass the annual grants-in-aid bill, which provides funding to a variety of Delaware nonprofit organizations.

The Joint Finance Committee will solidify nonprofit funding plans Thursday, likely sending it for consideration in both chambers that afternoon via a suspension of rules, or on Sunday.

Aside from fiscal legislation that requires passage each year, lawmakers will finalize their outstanding business.

There are a number of committee hearings scheduled in both chambers, though it is unclear which bills will be up for consideration on both floors due to the dynamic nature of the final week of the legislative session.
