GEORGETOWN — La Esperanza and the Haitian Coalition of Delaware will unveil the Thriving Newcomers Report from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb.1 at the Carter Center Auditorium, Room 529, on the Delaware Technical Community College Owens Campus.
The report is a study and feedback process examining the current state of immigrant and newcomer communities in Sussex County. Funded by Regional Foundation, the report represents a yearlong resident led effort to identify and document the most pressing issues facing newcomer communities in Sussex County. The report shares the problems and opportunities these communities face.
The event will start with light refreshments followed by a presentation about the report's findings. After that, a panel of community leaders will discuss the report’s conclusions and share ideas to help Sussex County's diverse populations.
“The Thriving Newcomers Report represents the voice and story of our communities," said Jennifer Fuqua, co-executive director of La Esperanza. “We are pleased to share this resource with all who are working to make Sussex County a more welcoming and supportive place for everyone.”
The event is open to the public. For information email info@laesperanza.org and to register for the event, visit https://bit.ly/3DYEVCU.
