Somerset County lifts burn ban

Posted

PRINCESS ANNE — Somerset County Commissioners earlier today lifted the outdoor burning ban.

This announcement comes four days after the Maryland Department of Natural Resources lifted its statewide open-air burning ban, but on the recommendation of local fire chiefs, Somerset County Emergency Services requested it remain in effect through the end of last week into the weekend.

Residents can now resume having campfires or bonfires, or burn trash or leaves when safely done and in some cases following municipal ordinance restrictions.

Cooking within contained barbeque grills and charcoal grills continues to be permissible.
