PRINCESS ANNE — Fees for service, both new and increased from former amounts, that were approved earlier this year by the County Commissioners for the Somerset County Health Department, will take effect on July 1.
Over 30 licenses, inspections or permits managed by the Environmental Health Division were either put into place or raised higher than amounts that have been in effect since 2009. The Environmental Health Division provides services including land evaluations, septic system applications, well permits, and food service facility licensing.
As Health Officer Danielle Weber said in January when the fees were adopted, "Some of them are new, some of them have stayed the same, and some of them are slightly increased." She said they are comparable to neighboring counties "to make sure we're all operating on the same page."
A fee table was first presented to the commissioners in October and it was returned in December but without a vote. The fees were approved Jan. 28 with Commissioner Craig Mathies Sr. absent.
Among the new fees is $100 for an outdoor music festival and $100 for septage haulers, plus there are some reinspection and late fees not previously charged. For more information call 443-523-1700.
