PRINCESS ANNE — The Somerset County Fair is not until the third full week of July but the call is out for contestants to compete to be Fair Queen for 2025 and a member of her court.
In addition to Fair Queen, Junior Miss and Little Miss, for the first time since 2010 there will be a Little Mr. competition.
The Little Miss and Mr. Pageants will be Monday, July 21 and children ages 4-7 on that day are eligible.
On Tuesday, July 22 the Junior Miss and Miss Fair Queen will be selected, with junior girls ages 9-12 and teens ages 14-18.
Eligibility is limited to residents who are either full-time students in Somerset County or a member of a 4-H club, or non-residents who are 4-H’ers in Somerset County.
Contestants must not be holding any local titles.
The 2025 winners will succeed Miss Fair Queen Sammie Insley, Junior Miss Raeven Thomas, and Little Miss Kamdyn Travers. The last Little Mr. was Jared Duncan in 2010.
Both pageants start at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Somerset County Civic Center. Admission will be $5 each night with tickets at the door.
This is the 20th year for pageant director Lynne Johnson, who wrote that when she started there was a Little Mr. component and “so many people have asked if we would bring back the boys” so it will return if there is interest.
The theme will be “Roaring Twenties” and Mrs. Johnson can be contacted for more information and contestant applications at 443-523-0282.
