City of Salisbury to honor Greg Bassett with roundabout renaming

Posted

SALISBURY — The City of Salisbury, in partnership with the Greater Salisbury Committee and members of the community, have announced a special dedication honoring the late Greg Bassett—a cherished leader, journalist, and devoted member of the Salisbury community.

To celebrate Bassett’s lasting impact and unwavering service, the downtown roundabout will officially be renamed Greg Bassett Circle.

The community is invited to attend the Greg Bassett Circle Unveiling Ceremony on Monday, April 28, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the downtown roundabout, located at the intersection of Riverside Drive, West Carroll Street, and Mill Street in Downtown Salisbury. This public event will serve as a moment of remembrance, celebration, and appreciation for Bassett’s dedication to Salisbury and his many contributions through storytelling, civic engagement and leadership with the Greater Salisbury Committee.

“We are proud to honor Greg Bassett’s legacy in a way that will forever remind residents and visitors of the difference one individual can make,” Mayor Randy Taylor said. “His passion for community and commitment to Salisbury set a powerful example.”

For those planning to attend, viewing will be available from nearby non-permitted parking lots.
