After 87 years, Salisbury Mayor Charles Harper to be honored with monument, kiosk

Salisbury Independent
Posted 6/9/25

Among the many prominent Salisburians at rest in Parsons Cemetery is Charles Edward Harper, Mayor of Salisbury from 1904 to 1910.

In addition to his three terms as mayor, Harper was a prominent participant in Salisbury business, government, and civic affairs.

Although Harper died on April 3, 1938, and his wife, Mary Josephine on May 1, 1943, both of their graves were previously unmarked.

On Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m., a monument and kiosk erected in their memories and celebrating their contributions to Salisbury will be dedicated at Parsons Cemetery, 912 N Division Street, Salisbury, MD. 21802.
