A new St. Paul's Episcopal Church will be dedicated on Christmas

Posted

A celebration to dedicate the new St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be at 11 a.m. on Christmas Day. The Rt. Rev. Santosh K. Marray, Bishop of the Diocese of Easton, will join Fr. Mike Lokey and parishioners as they return to their newly-built sanctuary and parish hall on St. Paul’s Church Road near Marion.

The former 1848 church was no longer safe and vacated in December 2022 when services moved into the parish hall.

This past spring the church was cleared and hall gutted and Delmarva Veteran Builders rebuilt a modern facsimile.

The first Annemessex Chapel was founded in 1726 with a second church erected 1818-21. They were some two miles away from the current location.

St. Paul’s is the last active Episcopal congregation in Coventry Parish, and during construction members met in the former St. Mark’s in Westover, which closed in 2005 and was deconsecrated in 2012 but extensively refurbished by a private owner.
